This was a nightmare. Roaches attempting to terraform the entire Earth. It was unthinkable, beyond imagination! The two hired mercenaries had to re-access the entire situation. Their operation now not only involved the fate of their employer, but of the entire world! Their next step would determine the fate of trillions. No choice would be an easy one.

“We could vamoose,” the Centipede suggested. “Savin’ the world ain’t in the small print.”

“And leave the fate of this to who?” the Spider inquired. “By the time we leave, we could alert someone else…but by then it may be too late. With as many roaches as there are, they could build their doomsday device within hours.”

The Centipede went silent and plunged into deep thought for a moment. “Alright, alright…here’s what we gotta do. Dese mooks can survive a nuke…or at least da aftermath. But ain’t no way dey can take da brunt of an explosion.”

“An explosive…?” the Spider sniffed. “How crude.”

“Doin’ the job right don’t mean it has ta be neat ‘n tidy,” the Centipede replied. “Alls we gotta do is get the job done.”

“And if the collateral is taken from our paycheck…?” the Spider asked.

“We tell them the stakes was raised and up our fee,” the Centipede smirked with a spin of his guns.

The Spider gave a wide grin. “Oooh, sounds like a plan…”

The two creeping crawlers had spent the rest of the night constantly on the move. The Roaches were everywhere and they were active, moving within their tunnels throughout the crime boss’ mansion. Only when dawn cracked did the nocturnal beasts’ activity begin to slow.

Thus began…The Secret Counterattack!
